Youngstown May Day Festival  Highlights:

Our third Youngstown May Day Festival was held April 29-30, 2023.

​

Highlights included:

 

Saturday: Talks by the NE Ohio Workers Center on "Know Your Rights at Work", SJP YSU "The Struggle for Liberation," the short film "The Lynching of Giovanni Chiesa," Alexis Smith DO on "The Yearlong Fight to Pass the Reproductive Freedom Amendment in Ohio, and What's Next?" and a poetry reading with Erica Putro, Jeanne Bryner, Ash Dillon, Maysa Smith, Sara Khan, Sadikshya Chalise, & Zayda Stormer.

Sunday: the AFL-CIO Memorial To Fallen Workers, Bending Oak Permaculture Farm on "Permanent + Culture," Mia Allonby on "Before and After Stonewall" Sean Posey on "What can Marxism teach 21st century movements?" and Alice Lynd sharing excerpts from the film about her and her partner Staughton Lynd's life, Accompanyi

 

Musical performances included LibCor, Miss Dreadful, Danny McMaster, Jonathan Blackshire, Crash the Great, Indig0Forest, & Tom Cvetkovich.
