Youngstown May Day Festival  Highlights:

Our first Youngstown May Day Festival, founded by seasoned activists from the Youngstown area who were part of Youngstown Solidarity.

This event featured a keynote by legendary labor and civil rights activists Alice and Staughton Lynd.

Workshops included sustainable gardening, first aid, sign painting, mutual aid mand fighting HIV criminalization.

Lectures included the history of labor in the Mahoning Valley, history of May Day, abolition of the death penalty, and the fight for fair voting districts.

Music by John Smiley and Jan Kay Pentz as well as a song sharing and round robin open to all levels of musicians, voices and acoustic instruments and  performances by  Jen Cancio, Matt Marton, Jonathan Blackshire and the Frank Lev Group.

Spring crafting with flower crown and May Day Basket making, Maypole dancing, sidewalk chalk art, free pedicab rides to downtown and the Oak Hill polls, and free face painting.

All that and a roving fire breather (yes, really!)
