Youngstown May Day Festival  Highlights:

In our second year of the Youngstown May Day Festival, we had these highlights:

  • Historian Sean Posey on early 20th century labor and Youngstown’s struggle to win union recognition

  • A celebration of the new book Death By Democracy Protecting Water and Life: Frontline Stories from Ohioans Fighting Corporate and State Power, which includes a chapter on Youngstown’s struggle to protect clean water

  • A conversation on the future of community organizing facilitated by Community Activist Susie Beiersdorfer

  • A roundtable discussion on the rise of fascism and what we can do about it with Werner Lange, Jacob Labendz, Chris Barzak, and others

  • A flower crown and May Day basket making workshop 

  • A workshop on making and using enzymes for household cleaning
